Register a new vehicle and get a number
File Form 20, show the vehicle at the DTO within 7 days of delivery, pay fee and life tax.

Steps

Temporary registration is done by the dealer where it applies.

Book an online slot and file Form 20 on the Transport Department portal.

Show the vehicle and documents within 7 days of delivery (journey time not counted): Form 21 sale certificate, Form 22 roadworthiness certificate (22A for body builders), valid insurance and address proof. Trailers need State Transport Authority design approval; imported vehicles need customs clearance.

Pay the registration fee and life tax. Life tax is set by the Telangana Motor Vehicles Taxation Act and depends on the vehicle.

Your number is given in your district's TG series. For a choice or fancy number, use the fancy number portal linked from the Transport Department home page.
