Dasara Shami (Jammi) Puja at Padmakshi Temple

Shami (jammi) puja on Vijayadashami at the Padmakshi Temple, Hanamkonda. The puja time has not been published yet; it is usually done in the evening, so check with the temple.

Significance: By tradition the Pandavas hid their weapons in a shami tree during their exile and took them back on Vijayadashami, so people worship the shami (jammi) tree, exchange its leaves as "gold" and wish each other well.
