Also known as SCCL Bhupalpally, Kakatiya Khani, KTK mines, Singareni
The Singareni Collieries coal mines around Bhupalpally town: the Kakatiya Khani underground mines and opencast projects of the Godavari valley coalfield.
Cultural significance
Bhupalpally is one of Singareni Collieries' coal-mining areas, and the town grew largely around its mines. The Kakatiya Khani (KTK) group includes the underground mines KTK-1, KTK-2, KTK-3, KTK-5 and KTK-6 and the Kakatiya Longwall Project. Opencast mining runs at KTK OC-2 (operating since 2017) and the KTK OC-III project at Basawarajupalli in Ghanpur mandal. The mines supply thermal coal, including to the Kakatiya Thermal Power Project at nearby Chelpur.
