About this event
The sixth day, when by tradition Bathukamma is "sulking" (aligina): no Bathukamma is played and no offering is made. Day 6 of the nine days of Bathukamma, 10 to 18 October 2026. Women stack seasonal flowers such as gunuka and tangedu into a Bathukamma, sing and dance around it in the evening, and later set it afloat in a tank or lake.
Significance: Aligina means "sulking": by tradition the goddess is upset on this day, so no Bathukamma is played and no food is offered. Families rest and get ready for the last three days.
